Interstitial cystitis is a chronic inflammatory condition of the bladder. The cause of interstitial cystitis is unknown, but occurs more commonly in females. Symptoms include difficulty urinating, pain on urination, urinary urgency and increased frequency of urination.

Question: I'm currently taking Vistaril, Benadryl, Bicitra, Zantac, L-Arginine, Diflucan and am on IC Diet. What do you think?

Answer: This is an OK list of medications. Histaryl and Benedryl are both antihistamines. Zantac, as you might not have known, is also an antihistamine. Both work at two different receptors. L-arginine is probably useless and, in fact, may actually enhance central activation as amino acids play in the trascriptive process of the second order neuron. A lot of big words, but I don't like it. That's a lot of Diflucan you're taking. You usually only need one or two doses. Run this by your primary care physician. The IC Diet is probably helpful. If these are all the medicines you're on, you're probably a little undertreated. I really like Neurontin. New meds are on the way. Keep watching the page.
